Busy Weeks= Happy Weeks and FINALLY relevant updates!

So I've finally found a moment to just sit down on blog. I haven't really been able to do that in the last 5 weeks, so I'm excited to have this time to myself! Granted, I really should be doing other things, but hey, people need to know what I'm doing dagnabit!

School has flown by, and has been a blast. I've never loved school as much, which pretty much means it doesn't even feel like school. Except on Tuesdays, that's my least favorite day of the week. I'm currently taking Meat Identification and Fabrication, Culinary Skill Development, Sanitation, and Intro to Hospitality. My two favorite classes are Culinary Skill Development and Intro to Hospitality. Intro mostly because of the chef who teaches it, it's not that fun. But I do have like a 102% in that class apparently which is awesome. My chef for the other two classes is kind of a bumhole, but he's good at his job. I'm just not so hot at fabricating meat, and sanitation is BORING!

So September flew by with lots of goodbyes to one Red Robin, LOTS of cheesecake making, some weddings, some baby showers, and some bridal showers. I don't really even remember that month happening.... Except for the end. Matt and I went to Leavenworth for the weekend. It was very romantic, but I'm pretty sure I already talked about that.....

October flew by too!! School has been going great, I had midterms last week, and I rocked my Culinary Skill development one! I got a 96 out of 100, and the chef told me I had the best tasting sauces of the day! Also that I'm at the top of my class, the "cream of the crop"!! That made me feel so great! Then today I found out I was getting a "B+" in Meat ID which is a little sad, but at the same time half the time I feel like I'm failing that class, so a B+ is good.

I also got to teach a cupcake class a couple of weekends ago, it was so much fun! I was really nervous, but it turned out well and everyone had fun! I'll definitely have to do one again!

Also last week was Matt's birthday! He's 27 that old fart! He really doesn't like me rubbing it in, but I actually really like being married to someone older than me. I always said I would marry someone at least 5 years my senior. He's only 4, but I love him to death despite that fact lol. We celebrated at home with wedge salads (his favorite kind), spaghetti and meatballs (every year), and tres leches cake (because he's whined for the last 8 months I've never made it for him). Dinner was great. Then we opened presents, Chris and James and Madi got him an awesome long sleeve shirt that he loves, I think he's worn it at least 3 times since last Thursday. He got a lot of cash from relatives, and I got him a miter saw. I love the pictures of him, he looks like a kid in a candy shop! It was a great day, I love my husband so much!

Besides that, upcoming events include Jana coming into town tomorrow for the weekend which I'm soooooooooooo excited about! I've missed her so freaking much! And then the following weekend Matt and I head to the Tri-Cities to welcome Banner home from Brazil! I'm really excited to see him, even though I'm pretty sure he still doesn't like me, but eh, he'll like Matt so maybe eventually he'll warm up to me too :) And then the week after that it's off to Utah to stay with James and Chris before we go to Colorado for Thanksgiving!!! I'm really excited because I love spending time with Matt's family, and the icing on the cake is I'll also be able to visit Aynna, my cousin Nikki, and maybe a few other people while we're there!! November is such a great month, so much to be thankful for!!!! And that's about it...... Enjoy the pictures, I would promise to try and post more often, but no one really reads this anyways, and it would be a promise I would break, so, I'll post when I can.... Have a great day!

Matt made these bacon, parsley, and onion tarts for me for breakfast!

Sweet and Sour Pork and fried rice. It's one of my favorite things to make now!

Peanut butter cheesecake with a chocolate ganache. Yummo. I sell these now!!

Different cheesecake, same flavor

Matt finishing his bratwurst in Leavenworth

Fatty meeeeee

There was a salmon festival going on, I had to take advantage of it.
Matt hanging new lights in our entry way. Red!
Chicken Kiev and pan roasted potatoes with rosemary. It was ridiculously tasty.
Getting ready for my halloween party! I finally got a fog machine!
AND I was allowed to use it this time :)
Pumpkin cupcakes for display
Pandas!
My favorites were these sunflowers!
Sara displaying the cupcakes she made at the enrichment activity I did (hers and Emily's)
Matt trying on his new shirt from Chris and James. He looks pretty good if I do say so myself

Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love you, tomorrow! You're only a day awaaaaaaaay!!!

I start school tomorrow!!!!! Why am I so excited? Because it's Culinary Arts!!!!!!!!!!!! I get graded on cooking, how awesome is that?! Of course there'll be some boring stuff like sanitation (necessary yes, but also boring), but for the most part I just get to learn how to make beautiful delicious food, different cuts of meat, sauces, desserts, etc. It'll be amazing. And it all starts tomorrow!!!!

Guess what else happens tomorrow???? WICKED!!!!!!!!!! Heather, I feel really bad I'm not going with you :( Matt suprised me with tickets, which was super sweet of him, but my first reaction was guilt! But yeah, my wonderful husband surprised me on Thursday night with tickets to see Wicked! I'm so excited to go!

Speaking of my wonderful husband, he has been extremely wonderful as of late. At the beginning of last week he asked me if I wanted to go spend the weekend at Mt. Rainier in the cabin we stayed at for our honeymoon! How romantic of him! We ended up not being able to go because just about everything was booked, so I suggested Leavenworth since he's never been. It was so much fun! I got to go to The Soup Cellar, which is a restaurant I went to every year for 4 years during marching band. Unfortunately it's changed a lot, but the soup was still good! We sampled fudge, chocolates, tried on hats, visited unique shops, ate delicious german food, watched District 9 (really good by the way!!!), and did so many other great things! I'll post pictures when I'm not so lazy lol.

What else has been going on.....

Lecia had her baby!! Rebecca Jolen Price! I'm really sad Matt and I weren't able to be there, but babies come when they're ready, not just because aunts and uncles are visiting for a weekend. Yeah, we went down Labor Day Weekend hoping Lecia would pop, but no such luck. Rebecca came the following Sunday. Beautiful baby, I can't wait to meet her!

Summer was a busy time for me and my desserts, I sold a lot, gave a lot a way, and ate just about as many! Not really...... But I had fun experimenting and making classic favorites. I've also come up with a few ideas for shop names, let me know what you think!

Truly Scrumptious- I like this because I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and I think it's a perfect name!

Charlotte's Sugar- I like this because my name rhymes (kind of, you know what I mean) with something! I can't do something cute like "Katie's Cupcakes", so this is as close as it gets.

Sugar By Charlotte- I thought maybe "Charlotte's Sugar" could potentially sound a little provocative, so this is my alternitave to it.

The ones with my name in it are definitely unique, and no one else could ever have them. Well, I suppose they could....... But probably not. And Truly Scrumptious, I know there are a couple other stores with that name, but not for what I want to do, they're just bakeries.

Anywho, I better go pack up my school bag, I'm going to be super prepared for tomorrow's early morning wakeup call! I have to get up by at least 6:30AM so I can get to school on time, I live so far away! And for those of you who know me, that's dangerously early haha.

So today I think I found my birth mom on facebook. Facebook. How do you go about asking someone on facebook if she gave birth to you without making everything akward? If anyone knows, please, tell me.

When the husband's away, bad things happen.

So I long ago decided that bad things happen when Matt leaves me for more than 24 hours. Some might call me crazy, well, keep reading nonbelievers.

Every time Matt has gone on a business trip, my judgement for some odd reason is impared, and bad things happen. Whether it's reverting back to old habits, having unfortunate things happen, you name it. This week has been the worst so far. I'll list in the order of events leading up to today.

Monday: Nothing really over the top, I had to work all day. It was eerily slow at work though, so I didn't make my normal tips

Tuesday: Things are starting to heat up: I spend the day baking, and none of my desserts turn out. None of them. Seperately, each part of the desserts were delicious. Together, they managed to turn into a fiasco. I ended up throwing away everything, which cost me about $30. Awesome.

Wednesday: I hit a car. I've never hit a car in my life. And to add to it, I'm a statistic now. I was talking to Matt when it happened. I was at a stop sign, someone was in front of me, I thought they were going since they started moving forward and no cars were coming, so I look to my right to make sure I'm clear for a left turn still, let my foot off the brakes and BAM!!!!!!! I rear end her. No major damage, except to my ego and eventually our insurance bill.

Thursday: I HIT ANOTHER CAR!!!!!!!!!!! In a freaking parking lot for crying out loud. I try to park in front of this car, and I get to close and scrape the hell out of the fender of the other car, and now I have a blue streak on the side of mine. I mean, you've got to be kidding me, right? 2 cars in less than 24 hours, it's ridiculous. I'm a good driver. Well, apparently not. And to top it all off, I go to work at 4pm. By 5pm, I've got 2 symptoms of food borne illness, and it's not vomitting or fever, so obviously (for those of you who don't know the four symptoms) it's diarrhea and stomache cramps. I get sent home. So now I'm blogging about how awful my life is.

Luckily Matt comes home tomorrow, let's see if I can manage not to burn the house down, get robbed, or any of those other bad things I KNOW are bound to happen to me. Boo hiss.

Well I suppose it's time to catch up a little.....

Well it's been about a month and I haven't written anything, so now that I have some time I decided I would fill y'all in!

July went by in a whirlwhind of activities! It started off with me judging Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen Pageant, which was a blast. The lovely Rein Almon of Yakima won, and I couldn't of been happier with the outcome :)

July also included a lot of baking, painting, and working. In addition, yesterday I had my wisdom teeth removed. What a trip! I didn't remember any of it which is really nice. Okay, so I remember getting the catheter in my hand (which STILL kind of hurts!), the doctor telling me what drugs he was pumping into my body, and then all I remember is waking up in the recovery room, wanting Matt and wanting to leave. I got my wish and 30 minutes later my wonderful husband came and took me home. The doc said I have a two day recovery period which included yesterday and today. Everyone is saying I'll get puffy, but since all my teeth were already out and all he had to do was pull them, I think I'll be fine. And I'll be healed enough to eat hot dogs and garlic fries at the Mariners game on Saturday! Eeeeeow!

So besides that I had my sisters and my niece Savannah and my mom come visit me last weekend which was really nice. I also got to go and be an extra on the TV show "Leverage" again, which was fun, but it was a really really loooooooooooong day! I left my house at 2:30AM and didn't get home until 2:30AM!! Crazy.

And in regards to working, this is my life: Matt kisses me goodbye at about 6:15Am. I kiss him goodnight around 12:30-1AM. That's when we see each other except on Saturdays and Sundays. In passing. It's really depressing and I miss my husband :(

Alright, here's some photos of what I've been up to. Enjoy.

Baby shower desserts for a friend from work

This was the most delicious red velvet cake ever

Unfortunately my frosting didn't want to hold up very well :(

Mattycakes takes pictures for me while I pack up

The cheesecakes had gold pearl dust on the whipped cream.
Nice Effect

This was practice red velvet cake I took to work.

The frosting worked a lot better on this one, probably
Because I used whipped cream

The cakes actually baked out this red, they were beautiful

Mixing time!

A gorgeous peach pie for Sunday Dinner

I was pretty proud, Matt loved it

Our new Tv room! I was very suprised Matt was okay
with this shade of green. It looks great, you'll have to come see it!!

That is all man right there. Not a very good painter (I had
to go back and re-do just about everything he touched haha), but
still the love of my life :)

Update!

Well it's good to be back home finally! I had an amazing vacation visiting family and friends, but the best feeling in the world is coming home to your husband. At least it is for me :) Matt and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 21st. It wasn't how I'd ever pictured celebrating our first year together, but I'm glad we were able to spend at least a few quality hours together. I had been in the Tri-Cities for a week without him, he came down for my friend Melissa's wedding on the 20th, then left a little after noon on our anniversary. So we spent part of the day together. I had to convince him not to go to church, does that make me a bad person? I don't think so! It was our anniversary, I think Heavenly Father could understand lol. Anywho, one year down and about a zillion more to go, and I still fall in love with him more and more every day :) Sigh.......... hee hee

Besides that, I had a great time participating in Melissa's wedding, the Miss Tri-Cities dessert Auction, and seeing my family. We ended up raising over $11,000 for the scholarship program, that's pretty impressive! I'd like to think it was because of my desserts...... I got to see a few friends I haven't seen since highschool, meet some new people, and just relax. Well, relax as much as a 5 year old and 3 year old will let you. My nieces kept me on my toes the whole week and a half, they're a hoot. Spoiled, but a hoot nonetheless :)

And now I'm in the process of planning a bridal shower, figuring out what color to paint our downstairs, trying to get our backyard landscaped, preparing for the 4th of July (I have NO idea what to grill, sooo many options!), and as always trying to be healthy and active! Oh, we got furniture for our tv room downstairs!!! It'll be here I think on Monday or Tuesday, I cannot wait! We get to wall mount our tv, decorate, it's going to be fantastic! Next step is getting a tv stand or something along those lines to put the electronics on. I saw this really cool thing at Ikea that goes wall to wall that I might like, but it's really low. Not that it matters since there won't be a tv on it, but I was hoping for something a little higher..... Anywho, we'll figure it out.

And next week I head off to Miss Washington, I can't wait! I'm so excited to see all my friends compete and find out who's going off to Miss America and Miss America's Outstanding Teen! It'll be a good weekend :)

I'll have pictures of the food I made and maybe the furniture up later. As for pictures of the trips, I didn't take a single one of people, I'm kind of weird like that..... So maybe when Melissa's wedding photos get up I'll post some of those! Have a great rest of the week!

Loathing the Tri-Cities, yet Loving Texas.

So I am having harsh feelings towards the Miss Tri-Cities organization at the moment. Not only do 90% of them not talk to me anymore, the rest don't support me in my daily doings, i.e. the Mrs Washington pageant. You know, they're too busy taking care of the current title holders they can't take a day out to support me. Jerks. Anyways, so you know how I was able to be an extra on the TV show Leverage, as well as the new Harrison Ford movie? Well, last week I got asked to be in a print ad for some software company, and had to turn in down. Why? Because I agreed to do a dessert auction for the Miss Tri-Cities organization. I cursed them under my breath while I replied to the e-mail that I was unavailable. So last night I get another e-mail asking me to be in the Harrison Ford movie again!!! And I had to turn it down because it's on the day of the effing rehearsal for the dessert auction. Now, I'm thinking I should've said I was available to do both and told the organization to suck it, because if they're not going to support me, one of their alumni, why should I support them? Oh why do I have to be such a decent and big-hearted person?! lol. So I'm pretty upset with them for making me not only lose money, but also because I'm losing more chances at becoming famous. Jerks.

On a brighter note, I actually really like Texas. Like, I would move here! I had the most AMAZING massage and facial today at the spa, then spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool reading and going on the waterslides. Oh how I love vacationing. And last night Matt and I had dinner with one of his good friends and his wife. I love them! I would move to Texas just for them! I could get used to the humidity here...... It's beautiful where we are. Like Bellingham, but hot and flat and humid lol. So I'm having a blast, I get to go to the galleria tomorrow which I'm really excited about, although I'm contemplating just playing in the pool all day again......

Well now I have to get ready for the day and find a movie theatre and a melting pot to go to for dinner! See you later! Oh, that reminds me, I had a dream that we kept running into alligators here.....
